How to Get the Chic Comfort Look

By Fatima N.

Winter has returned, along with the struggle of staying cozy while at the same time looking put together. One without the other just isn't going to cut it. Here are seven pieces that assure the everyday chic comfort look.

1) Blanket Scarves

Scarves have the amazing ability of transforming an outfit. In the winter, it also helps you stay warm. The monogrammed Burberry one would be nice, but there are many alternatives. Bunch it around your neck or wear it like a blanket.

Factory Girl: 1960s Inspired Fashion

Factory Girl: 1960s Inspired Fashion

In the 60s, we witnessed the rise and fall of what we can call The Edie Empire. Edie was a model, heiress, an actress in Andy Warhol's underground studio, "The Factory" and one of the first "It Girls". Her time was short in the “It Girl” spotlight, but as John Galliano said,”She may have had 15 minutes of fame, but her fashion style and image influenced a whole generation.” The 60s were a time of Vidal Sassoon hair cuts and Mary Quant minis. Edie Sedgewick contributed to 1960s fashion as well, with her chandelier earrings, kohl rimmed eyes and blonde pixie crop...

Little Black Dress for Everyday

By Elma B.

I have been doing a series of posts on how to look chic with everyday pieces after several of my friends approached me to ask me how to look chic in their everyday wardrobe. As I have mentioned, fashion is not about those special occasions for which anyone can get dressed-up and dolled-up; it is about the everyday chic. One of the timeless looks, which every woman can wear and feel fabulous in, is the little black dress, pioneered by the iconic Coco Chanel in the 1920s. Thus, I wanted to provide you with a guide on how to wear the little black dress for everyday occasions

LBD for Everyday

1. Add wedged sneakers. Who said that comfort and style are antonyms? With the sporty fashion trend proving stronger than ever, add a pair of wedge sneakers to your LBD to spice-up the look. If you want to make a super-cool statement, add converse sneakers to the little black dress.

Here are best holiday party outfit ideas.

Effortless Style of Old Hollywood Icons

By Fatima N.

Let me reacquaint you with three words we have lost: pared down elegance. First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy knew them. Audrey Hepburn knew them. Grace Kelly knew them. It's time for you to be acquainted/reacquainted with them too. Now, this is not to wag a finger at heels and dresses. This is just a way to sartorially switch things up for evening attire. Here is a quick look at the fashion choices of these iconic ladies for your everyday inspiration and outfit ideas.

Effortless Style of Old Hollywood Icons

1. Effortlessly Stylish: Grace Kelly

The most perfect summary of Grace Kelly's fashion sense comes in the form of a quote by Howell Conant, "You trusted Grace's beauty; you knew it wasn't built from clothes and makeup...hair pulled back, dressed in a simple boy's shirt. This was Grace: natural, unpretentious." That was exactly the Queen of Monaco, Her Serene Highness. She had a minimalist ease about her, in her dressing.

The Most Luxirious Handbags Ever Made

The Most Luxurious Handbags Ever Made

Handbags are about so much more than utility in the fashion world- they are a statement. They become status symbols representative of a specific time in fashion history. Let’s take a look back at a few that made some serious waves in trends...

1. The Birkin Bag

Created by Hermes in the early 1980s, the name “Birkin” actually refers to actress Jane Birkin, who was seated next to a Hermes executive on an airplane and complained of not being able to find the right size weekend bag. The Birkin bag will probably go down in history as the most recognizable handbag in the world (despite its trademark lack of logos- which I find amazing). I mean, even a person who is not interested in fashion whatsoever will recognize the words “Birkin bag.” The Birkin became so popular that it had once had a waiting list of up to 6 years! (We all remember that episode of Sex and the City, right?). To see the luxury handbags inspired by fashion icons, click here.

10 Iconic Movies That Changed Fashion

10 Iconic Movies That Changed Fashion

Along with art museums and books, movies are a constant source of inspiration for fashion trends. The two have a connection, movies are great reference points for fashion. We copy characters seen on the screen. If we are aiming for a certain decade's look, we look to films of that era because movies are time capsules for fashion. Designers look to film for inspiration for their collections. Stars in the film also became stars in style, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly and the like. Films and fashion trends share a common ground, and here are 10 films that prove it...

How to Incorporate the 1940s Glamour Into Your Modern Wardrobe

By Elma B.

One of my favorite fashion decades was the 1940s, marked by its elegance, glamour and grace. It was the time of Hollywood's Golden Age, the age of Grace Kelly, Rita Hayworth and Ava Gardener. The period was marked by midi skirts, square shoulders, narrow hip cuts and decadent jewels. In fact, it was Christian Dior's groundbreaking debut when he redefined women's post World War II style by designing the new silhouette with gorgeous full midi skirts with waist cinching jackets. Since I am a huge fan of elegance, grace and humility, I wanted to provide you with tips on how you can incorporate the classic 1940s fashion pieces into your modern wardrobe.

How to Incorporate the Classic 1940s

Fashion Pieces Into Your Modern Wardrobe:

1. Midi skirts: Above and below in the photos, I wore the midi skirt with a '90s crop sweater top. I tried to mix and match modern pieces with the classic ones.

Fashion Trends: How to Find Your Perfect Coat

By Brittany Dobbins

Fall has finally come and winter is almost here, which means it’s time to take out the knitwear, scarves, gloves and layer-up for the colder weather. With the varying coats for this season, it can be a bit confusing making it hard to pick out the right one. Personally, I prefer to focus my autumn outerwear wardrobe on the essentials and variety, rather than what’s “in style” right now. Instead of having coats that limit the look you want to put together due to mismatching, try finding a coat that is more versatile and can complement your outfit. Now, let´s see how to wear this timeless fashion trend...
