Tips From a Professional Stylist: How to Pick a Suit

By Oliver Gerona

Fashion has been my passion since I was 15 years old, and I prefer Italian made suits more so than English because of my shape--I am tall and slim. I love mixing colors, and I am not afraid of it. I never wear black shoes except for funerals or tux shoes except for weddings. I have been working with Domenico Vacca for the past 15 years, and I have dressed most of his VIP A+ and Hollywood clients.

Without further ado, here are my 3 tips on how to pick a suit:

1. Jackets should fit like a glove on your body with higher arm hole and soft shoulder; steer away from too much padding it kills the look that makes you look like a box and square.

2. All my pants are slim and tapered bottom with no pleats on the front. My shirts mostly are two button collar that stands up when I am not wearing a tie because now I hate wearing one.

3. Lastly, wear pocket squares; plain cotton is very chic. It will complete the sharp look.
