10 Reasons Money Can't Solve Problems

By Sarah Baker

Many people believe that if you have money, you don’t have any problems. This is false. In fact, sometimes having money causes problems you would not have had otherwise. I have complied a list of 10 reasons having money does not mean that a person has no problems.

1. Drug and Alcohol Abuse. More money can mean more access to drugs and alcohol. For instance, we are all aware of Lindsay Lohan's problems with substance abuse, and of those unfortunate enough to succumb to their addictions, like Cory Monteith and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Substance Abuse:
Drew Barrymore, Amy Winehouse and Jim Morrision
2. Relationship Bad Luck. You cannot buy a good relationship or a relationship in general. Taylor Swift is probably the most famous celebrity with bad luck in the relationship area. Others who have struggled are Jennifer Anniston and Britney Spears.

3. Robberies. Having money opens-up your home to people who want to get their hands on it. Paris Hilton’s home has been broken into seven times. Yes, seven.

4. Botched Plastic Surgery. Having more money means more access to plastic surgery and a greater chance of it going badly. Nikki Cox, Pamela Anderson, Michael Jackson, and Micheala Romanini are examples of plastic surgery gone wrong or too far.

5. Accidents. Just because you are rich does not mean that you will not have accidents. Jake Owen has had his fair share from hurting his collarbone and shoulder to cutting off the tip of his finger, he hasn’t had good luck. Reese Witherspoon also had her fair share of accidents in a short period of time. She was injured on set, hit by a car while walking and hurt her finger.

6. Bankruptcy. Just because you have money, doesn’t mean that you know how to handle it. There are several people who have gone bankrupt because they either didn’t know how to handle it or decided they didn’t need to pay taxes. Among those who fall in this category are: child star Jodi Sweetin, Terrell Owens, MC Hammer, and Judy Garland.

7. Cancer. No matter if you have money or not, cancer sucks and anyone can get it. Cancer knows no difference between the rich and the poor. If you have money, it may prolong it because you can afford the best treatments, but it doesn’t necessary get rid of it. Patrick Swayze, Gilda Rander, and Keanu Reeves (his sister) are all examples of this.

8. Flooding. No matter how much money you have, if you leave things on the floor and high water hits, things will get ruined. This was the case for Brad Paisley and Keith Urban in May 2010 when Nashville flooded destroying their gear.

9. House Fires. Fire knows no difference between those who have money and those who do not and having money doesn’t prevent fires. Trace Adkins, Loretta Lynn, and Sir Richard Green have all had this unfortunate experience.

10. Death Threats/Murder. Having money may actually open you up for death threats from crazed people and unfortunately, murder in some cases. Sharon Tate is probably one of the most famous person in this example when she and her unborn child were murdered by the Mansons.

As you can see, having money does not make you immune to problems. In fact, there are some problems that money may bring on. Granted, money can help to get you back on your feet if the problem involves things being destroyed that can ultimately be replaced. So if you think that more money means less problems, check this list and think again. Sometimes more money means more problems.
