By Elma B.
Before becoming a humanitarian (she recorded a documentary "No Woman No Cry" and becoming a huge advocate for maternal health worldwide), Christy Turlington in the 80s and 90s repeatedly braced the cover pages of major fashion magazines and earned the spotlight from the biggest names in fashion. Her features are classy and epitomize Western elegance (albeit note that her mother is from El Salvador).
Also, by viewing all these photos of the young Christy Turlington, it has affirmed my thoughts that fashion used to be so much more elegant and flattering for women. The focus was on style rather than the exposure of the female body. What do you think fashionistas?
I have to mention that she is highly educated: she graduated from New York University cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Comparative Religion and Eastern Philosphy. Afterwards, she earned her master's degree from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. Her very good friend is Bono, who is also a fellow humanitarian.
