There is something so fresh about wide-legged-white pants: they stand out in the sea of "all-black-winter ensembles", you can combine them with almost anything, and they are super comfortable (you can breathe as opposed to some of the skinny pants that cut off your circulation). They have been around since the seventies (see the Charlie add below)and they are still popular today.
Wide-legged-white pants make any top stand out by creating amazing contrast. I paired my white pants with a recently purchased tribal sweater, a seventies style booties, and a new-bright-turquoise bag . If you still want to emphasize your shape, you can tuck in your shirt into your pants or wear a cropped top. If you decide on an "all white ensemble", I would suggest incorporating some colorful accessories!
