Why Is Manolo Blahnik So Popular?
You have probably heard about the Manolo Blahnik shoes numerous times in popular culture, e.g., in part one of the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Bella Swan wears Manolo Blhanik shoes for her wedding.

Another example was the iconic TV show "Sex and the City" where Blahniks are a favorite of Carrie Bradshaw and consequently are mentioned frequently. Lastly, they are mentioned by the infamous drag queen RuPaul in his dance music song "Supermodel of the World" who sings "My Manolo Blahnik's gonna party tonight."

So Who is Manolo Blahnik?
Manuel "Manolo" Blahnik Rodriguez is a Spanish born fashion designer and the founder of the self-named luxury shoe brand. While young, he worked for fashion giants like Vogue Italia, Diana Vreeland (who told him to focus only on footwear) and Ossie Clark. Essentially, Blahnik bought Zapata, where he was working at the time, in London from its owner and opened his own boutique. He made a bold move in the 1970s (when chunky platforms and boots were the mainstream fashion) to focus on the stiletto, which remains his staple piece.
