Ava Gardner remains one of Hollywood's icons for her beauty and her acting talent. She was an American actress and gained worldwide fame with her performance in The Killers in 1946. In 1953, she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her work in Mogambo. Her other notable roles include The Hucksters in 1947, Show Boat in 1951, The Snow of Kilimanjaro in 1952, The Barefoot Contessa in 1954, Bhowani Junction in 1956, On the Beach in 1959, Seven Days in May in 1964, The Night of the Iguana in 1964, The Life and Time of Judge Roy Bean in 1972, Earthquake in 1974, and The Cassandra Crossing in 1976.
Ava Gardner was the youngest of seven children and was from a farming community (Smithfield, Johnston County) in North Carolina. She had dark locks and piercing green eyes.
