With Spring here and Summer quickly approaching, we want to
make sure that we look and feel our best. In order to do this, we have to take
care of ourselves. This includes watching what foods we eat. If you are
anything like me, then you love food, but we have to be careful which ones we
eat. There are certain foods that we should definitely make a part of our
regular diet, ones that keep us hydrated and are good for our skin. Then there
are foods that we should avoid, ones that make us bloated and pack on the weight
easily. I have comprised a list of these foods so that you can make sure that
you feel your best and are summer ready.
1. Good for you skin:
Dark chocolate-give you a glow
Yogurt-prevents wrinkles
Pomegranates-inflammatory fighting anti-oxidants protect
your skin
Walnut-gives you soft skin
Peppers-fights crow’s feet
Green tea-may reduce the risk of skin cancer and has anti-inflammatory
fighting anti-oxidants, reduces redness
Sunflower seeds-brightens skin
Kidney beans-blemishes
Soy-evens out skin tone
Oatmeal-makes you look younger
Pumpkin-fights wrinkles
Strawberries-anti-aging Vitamin C
2. Keeps you hydrated:
Cucumber
Iceberg lettuce
Celery
Radishes
Tomatoes
Green peppers
Cauliflower
Watermelon
Spinach
Star fruit
Cantaloupe
Broccoli
Strawberries
Grapefruit
Baby carrots
Yogurt
Peaches
Pears
Plums
Apples
Kiwi
3. Foods that make you bloat:
Legumes such as beans, peas, lentils
Artificial sweeteners
Salt
Craterous Vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage,
Brussels sprouts
Dairy
Fizzy drinks
Chewing gum
Refined cards such as white rice, pasta, potatoes, and sugar
Sparkling water
4. Foods that make you
gain weight fast
Sushi rolls
Dried fruit
Brain muffins
Wraps
Bottled teas
Veggie burgers
Salads-be careful of the add ons
Tofu
Real nut butters
Tropical fruit
Avocado
Cheese
Tuna
As you can see, there are some foods that fall under
multiple categories. If they fall under a good category and a bad category, you
just have to make sure that you eat them in moderation. Eat enough for the good
effects to happen, but not too much that you experience the bad effects. One
example is broccoli. It keeps you hydrated but too much of it can make you
bloated, which is something you definitely don’t want during bathing suit
season. So, in preparation for the short, skirts, and bathing suits, consider
changing your diet and adding foods that are good for your skin and keep you
hydrated while taking out those that make you bloat and gain weight fast.
