Carla Bruni and Sarkozy

By Elma B.

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy (45), born Carla Gilberta Bruni Tedeschi, is an Italian-French singer/actress and a former supermodel. In February 2008, she married the former president of France, Nicolas Sarkozy. Ms. Bruni-Sarkozy's paternal family is Italian while her maternal family has by-and-large French ancestry.

Bruni is an heiress to the fortune of her grandfather's (Virginio Bruni Tedeschi) Italian manufacturing company, CEAT, founded in the 1920s. Bruni's family moved to France in 1975; hence, she has resided in France since the age of seven, attneded boarding school in Switzerland, studied art and architecture and dropped out of univerity at the age of 19 to become a model.

From 1987-1996, Bruni became a top model by working with fashion power houses like Christian Dior, Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel and Versacea, and some of the most gifted designers like Karl Lagerfeld and John Galliano. From 1997-2008, Bruni left the modeling world to pursue a music career.

Bruni met the recently divorced (from Cecilia Sarkozy) French president Nicolas Sarkozy in November 2007 at a dinner party. The two married shortly afterwards in February 2008 in Paris. The marriage is Bruni's first and Sarkozy's third. On October 19, 2011, Bruni gave birth to the couple's first daughter: Guilia Sarkozy in Paris.

Carla Bruni has indeed transformed through her career of a model to a former-first lady.  Take a look at the photos below. What do you think? Please leave us a comment or email us at info@clubfashionista.com
