Salvador Dali Museum Paris: Espace Dalí

By Elma B.

When I was 19 years old, it was my first time living in Paris. I was studying abroad for the summer and was throughly enjoying this delightful and mystical city. On a day when I was visiting the Sacré-Cœur Basilica, I accidentally stumbled upon the charming and exquisite museum dedicated solely to the surrealist artist: Salvador Dali. The museum is located just behind the Sacré-Cœur Basilica.

(I learned that the Salvador Dali museum in Paris is called Espace Dalí.) The museum struck me because it was fairly small compared to its big brothers like  Musée du Louvre and Musée d'Orsey. Also, when roaming through the museum, one did not have to fight the large wave of tourists. Dalí's art adds a unique spin to life leaving you baffled after your tour of the museum.

The exhibition is dedicated solely to Salvador Dalí and focuses on his sculptures and engravings. Espace Dalí is France's largest collection of Dalian sculptures. Some of the notable sculptures thatI spotted were Space Elephant, Alice in Wonderland, Moses and monetheism, Memories of Surrealism, etc. Thus, for all the art lovers and the fans of the bizarre: next time you are in Paris, the Espace Dalí is a must see!
