Your Quick Guide to Chicago: Top 5

By Elma B.

Chicago has long gone undetected amongst tourists visting the U.S.; most think, New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and Miami.  Well that is very unfortunate since Chicago is the third largest city in the U.S. (after New York City and Los Angeles) and has so much to offer...here are some of my favorites:

Behind me (center): Chicago River
1. Chicago River: Take the Chicago River Architecture tour to learn about Chicago's famous buildings.

Chicago River: Windy in Chicago
2. Food: Chicago has between 7,000 and 15,000 restaurants. One of my favorite brunch places in Chicago is the Ralph Lauren restaurant (located on 115 East Chicago Avenue).

3. Shopping: North Michigan Avenue, where you can find Burberry, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue as well as high street shops like H&M, ZARA, and Topshop, is my favorite. Chicago has all the luxury shopping that New York City and London have to offer, e.g. go to Oak Street, and you will find Agent Provocateur, Barneys New York, Hermes, Jimmy Choo, and Lanvin.

4. Entertainment: Chicago has a vibrant nightlife, e.g., its clubs (Paris Club, Cuvee and Underground) and lounges are frequented by a young energetic crowd.  Also, if you prefer a cultured night out, Chicago has its own Broadway called "Broadway in Chicago" located on 17 North State Street.

5. Museums: There are more than 4 dozen museums in Chicago. My favorite thus far is the Art Institute of Chicago, which holds the largest collection of impressionist paintings outside of the Louvre in Paris.
