Tropical Prints

By Amra B.

Since I have been in Miami, I decided to embrace the hot weather and turn towards fashions inspired by the environment. Miami is a tropical paradise and prints that embrace the vibes of the beautiful forest colors are just what I needed.

Tropical prints are no longer reserved just for the elderly tourists in Hawaii; they have been present on the runways for some time now. Tropical prints have appeared in many collections of some of the best known brands, including Dolce & Gabbana , Stella McCarthy, Balenciaga, Giles, and more.

Below are some tips on how to style tropical prints:

1. Keep it within the same color spectrum: tropical prints can be busy and I like to balance them out by including only colors in the same spectrum. If you are the print color is warm, I like to add same accessories and vice versa. For my outfit, I added a bright orange necklace and yellow shoes. I kept other accessories darker and let the tropical print be the focal point.

2. Get inspired by the beach: tropical prints go best with beach hair; overly styled locks can look too stiff with this casual print. Flip flops, gladiator sandals, and other types of beach footwear compliments tropical prints really well.

3. Embrace the bronze: tropical prints look best with bronze makeup and skin. If you are not tanned, it is easy to fake the “just back from a vacation” skin by applying a little bronzer from the tube on your body and face. I also like using copper tones on eyelids and lips; they perfectly compliment the feel of tropical prints.

4. Don’t be afraid to glam it up: tropical prints can easily go from casual to glam by adding high heels and bright lips. You can achieve an “extra chic effect” with a pair of mirrored sunglasses.
