Now that the summer season has arrived, I have been struggling to find an easy, everyday makeup look that is pretty yet understated. Personally, my skin is very dry, so that fresh, dewy summer look that everyone strives for it not very easy. However, after some searching around, I have found a few key products that can create such a look in not much time at all. Here is the finished look and a breakdown of the products I used.
1. Elf Flawless Finish Foundation in Porcelain
I am a big fan of Elf products in general because they are so inexpensive- this foundation was only $3! It provides an even finish without having to use a ton of product, and I also really like the way it smells. It has a fresh, clean scent that I have never noticed in other foundations.
2. Sonia Kashuk Chic Luminosity Highlighter Stick in Sparkling Sands
Highlighter is my favorite new product for summer. I had never tried it previously, but I love the dewy glow it adds to my cheeks. Just a little dab of this goes a long way!
3. Maybelline The Collossal Volum’ Express Mascara in Classic Black
Since I decided to keep it simple and go with a bare eyelid, I emphasized the eyelashes in this look. Full, thick lashes helps to open the eyes and make you look more awake, and can be achieved with just a few quick coats of mascara. I have been using this particular one lately, and am really happy with it.
4. Elf Contouring Blush & Bronzer
This is another Elf product that I have been loving. The blush is a pretty coral/pink shade that adds a subtle rosiness to the cheeks, and the bronzer is perfect for contouring the cheekbones. I also applied a bit of bronzer to the sides of my forehead, right above my temples.
5. L’Oreal Colour Riche Balm in Caring Coral
This lip balm is super moisturizing, adds a beautiful coral shade to the lips, and smells like caramel! I much prefer this to a heavier lipstick for the summertime.
6. Evian Facial Spray
I recently came across this facial spray and use it to finish off my makeup, as well as to freshen up throughout the day. Like I said, I have very dry skin, so a boost of moisture after makeup application or whenever needed is crucial in creating a fresh look. If you have oily or combination skin, you could probably skip this step and instead bring along a translucent powder for touch-ups.
These are just a few of the products that can help you create a fresh, dewy, everyday makeup look that’s perfect for the summer season. They are all inexpensive and readily available at most drugstores. Of course, there are days when you may want to go even more natural, or when you want to go bolder with a bright lip color or eye shadow. These can all be amazing looks for summer, but these products are a great way to get started.
