Trendy Sneakers for Effortless Summer Style

By Catherine Santino

Now that summer is fast approaching, it’s time to ditch those heavy snow boots and break out some fun, colorful footwear to brighten up any look. Sneakers are a great way to do this. Whether they’re paired with high-waisted shorts, cropped pants, or even dresses, it’s easy to create a laidback vibe that’s perfect for summer. Almost all the fashion brands, from luxury to high street, have jumped on the bandwagon on designing the new sneaker look. Let's take a look below…

Now, for fashionistas on a budget, here are a few different affordable sneakers and three celebrity-inspired ways to style them this season…

1. Converse

Emma Roberts always manages to pull off a style that is effortlessly cool. She can often be seen rocking converse sneakers, which help her achieve a casual, bohemian look. They can be used to dress down a less casual outfit (such as the black one-piece ensemble Emma has on in the photo on the right), or enhance the laidback feel of cutoff shorts and a crop top or tee. Converse also come in a variety of different styles and colors other than the beige high-tops and classic black ones Emma is wearing in these photos. Here are some of my favorites, all $60 or under!

2. Nike

British singer Eliza Doolittle has an incredibly unique and whimsical style that I’ve always been a fan of. She prefers sneakers to any other type of shoe, and uses them to add an unexpected, youthful twist to her ensembles. Most often, she can be seen wearing Nikes, which you can use to create fun, colorful summertime looks. I picked a few of my favorites, which are all $110 and under.

3. Keds

Keds are the perfect summer sneaker to pair with anything from skirts, to shorts to dresses. Taylor Swift recently partnered up with Keds to create her own sneaker line, which are perfect to help you achieve her retro-sweet style for summer. Here are some of the ones I’m loving, all $55 or less!
