Preparations for the Sarajevo Film Festival

By Nerina Milano Hodzic

The end of summer in Sarajevo is solely dedicated to the Sarajevo Film Festival ("SFF"). Each year the festival draws around 100,000 fans to Sarajevo.

SFF began in 1995 and has been ongoing for 19 years. The excitement, the party planning and the international tourists transform the city's mood during the nine days of the film festival, which has become one of the most celebrated in Europe.

This year, the SFF will be held from 16 until the 24th of August. Sarajevo will then be the center of movie premieres with the red carpet full of A list celebrities, and clubs packed with young and cheerful people ready to party until dawn. The movies premiere at different locations throughout Sarajevo; for instance, films are played at the National Theatre, Open Air Cinema, and Multiplex cinemas.

As for any festival, attendees, especially the ladies, devise carefully their red carpet gowns. For the film screenings in the open air, it is enough to have an outfit in which you feel comfortable and relaxed. However, if you decide to attend a screening at the National Theatre, then you need to adjust your styling for the red carpet.

Many celebrities, including Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, Jeremy Irons, Mira Furlan, Mickey Rourke, Gillian Anderson, Bosnian Oscar winner Danis Tanovic, and regional stars like as Severina, Jelena Rozga, Sasa Losic Losa, Edin Dzeko, and Amra Silajdzic, have walked the red carpet at the Sarajevo Film Festival.

If you have not found inspiration from the gowns already worn on the red carpet at the Sarajevo Film Festival, below you will find some designer gowns by talented local Bosnian fashion designers. One of them, Belma Tvico, has already designed gowns for Angelina Jolie. We are expecting you at the Sarajevo Film Festival!

In Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian:

Sarajevo će tada biti centar filmskih premijera, crveni tepih pun poznatih i slavnih lica, a klubovi prepuni mladih i veselih ljudi, party-i do zore, a filmovi tokom cijelog dana na 10 različitih lokacija ( Narodno Pozorište, Open air kina, Multiplex kino dvorane itd).

Hearts of  Sarajevo

Sarajevo i Film Festival vas očekuju!

Odbrojavanje je počelo.....
