French Riviera: Villages and Beaches

Cogolin

One of the beauties while vacationing in the French Riviera is the diversity that it offers, e.g., charming villages, remote beaches and nearby cities like Cannes and Nice. We had the pleasure of staying in Cogolin, which is a small beautiful village; we had a bakery, authentic restaurants and a grocery all within a two minute walk from our apartment.

Cogolin is quaint and quiet and is conveniently situated near St. Tropez (only a 10 minute drive) and Ramatouelle (which is where the well-known Nikki Beach, Club 55 and Bagatelle are located). Right outside our apartment, were these gorgeous deep purple flowers so we took the opportunity to capture the scenery.

For the fashionistas, I wore a simple black and loose shirt with a semi-circle back; white shorts with tiny knitted flowers; an emerald necklace; small Tory Burch wedges; classic round sunglasses by Versace, and I tied a blue-silk Juicy-Couture scarf around the back of my head and braided the loose ends into my hair. My bag: Louis Vuitton speedy, which conveniently can hold more or less whatever I carry.

Beaches in the French Riviera...

The beaches we frequented on the French Riviera are in Ramatuelle, which gained publicity after many films were made there (e.g. Et Dieu Créa la Femme with Brigitte Bardot; currently, the canteen used by the shooting crew has now become Club 55).

Before the 20th century, the beaches in Ramatuelle were relatively unknown and were merely used by sailors to park their small boats. Now, the beaches of Ramatuelle host famous restaurants and beach parties at places like Nikki Beach, Club 55, Nioulargo and Bagatelle. Below, you will find some personal photos of the beach scenery in front of Niolargo.
