Quick Tour of the Tate Modern in London

One of my favorite spots in London is Tate Modern (commonly referred to as "Tate"), which is located at the Bankside area of Central London. Tate is a gallery that hosts international modern art; it is one of the most-visited modern art galleries in the world (around 4.7 million visitors per year). Tate holds the national collection of British art dating from 1500 to the present day and international modern art.

The galleries are located in Bankside Power Station, used to be a power station and was later converted partially into a museum. The southern third of the building was retained by the French power company EDF Energy as an electrical substation.

Tips when visiting Tate:

1. Admission to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors are free. 

2. Special exhibitions will cost anywhere from £11 to £15 pounds per ticket. 

3. On the 3rd floor there is a tiny cafe with a spectacular view.

We did not have a chance to explore most of the museum; I wanted to take it step by step and come back another weekend to explore more. What I did pay close attention to on my first visit to Tate was Pablo Picasso and his cubist paintings...
