I was shopping yesterday during Black Friday and stumbled upon a gorgeous red velvet blazer in the Burberry store. The blazer had amazing stitching and maroon red was just perfect for the winter, e.g. you could combine it with jeans and light brown boots during the day or with a black skirt and opaque black stalkings during the night.

Consequently, I decided to research a little more about velvet this season. I found that many celebrities and designers have shifted their focus to this soft and warm material. Velvet was very popular in the 70s; it was part of the hippie-chic style; it has made a come back in Winter 2012. For examples of many velvet styles, see the photos below.
