Bali is a province, which is made of small islands and the isle of Bali, that is located in the country of Indonesia. The capital of Bali is Denpasar, which is also its largest city. The population of Bali is around 4 million.
The main religion in Bali is Hinduism, which focuses on arts and rituals rather than scriptures. Many Westerners were introduced to Bali through Elizabeth Gilbert's Eat Pray and Love novel and its later film adaptation starring Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem. The culture in Bali was strongly influenced by the Chinese, Indian and Hindu culture.
Bali is the largest tourist destination in Indonesia and is well known for its developed arts, e.g. traditional and modern dance, sculpture, paintings, leather, metalworking, and music. Moreover, mountains that range from center to the eastern part of Bali, and some have peaks over 3,000 meters in elevation, add to Bali's geographic beauty. Interestingly, Bali's highest mountain (Mount Agung) is an active volcano. The island is surrounded by coral reefs. Beaches in the south contain white sand while beaches to the north have the black sand. To find out more, see the photos below.

I agree that Bali is a great destination. You can be anything from ultra-tourist on Kuta, hip on Seminyak or almost by yourself in a rice field.
